Frequently Asked Questions

Should I pick a male or female puppy?
There are a lot of variables in play when answering this question.

Do you have any other dogs in the home? Or other dogs your dog will be around? We usually recommend going with the opposite gender.

Do you need/want a larger or smaller dog? We recommend males for mobility work, and females if you want a bit smaller. Males measure about 23 – 24 inches (58-61 cm) in height at withers (shoulder) and weigh approximately 70 to 85 lbs. Females stand 21-1/2 – 22-1/2 inches (55-57 cm) at the withers and weigh approximately 60 to 70 pounds at maturity.

We ask that you wait to spay/neuter until your puppy is at least a year old, preferably 2 years old. This means your female will go thru a heat cycle. Are you ok with that?

I don’t need a service dog, could I still get one of your puppies?
Of course! Not all puppies will have the requirements for service dog work. Some will do better as therapy dogs, or as pet dogs. You let us know what you are looking for, and we will choose the right pup for you.

Do Golden’s shed?
You bet they do! Some dogs shed more, others less, but Goldens definitely shed. A quick brush out daily, along with a quality diet, help to minimize shedding.

How long of a waiting list do you have for your puppies?
While it seems like an easy question to answer, it isn’t.

We cannot predict how many puppies each female will have.

We evaluate temperament, personality, health, strengths and weaknesses from birth. Our puppy application helps us know what your needs are, as we have families who are seeking a puppy for a particular job, and match each puppy up with the best family for them.

We keep puppies from each litter for our breeding and training programs.

The people on our wait list are happy to wait for their perfect puppy.
