Private Dog Training

Personalized Training for You and Your Dog

Sometimes you don't need a full training program.

You just need an experienced trainer to look at what you're doing, identify what's getting in the way, and show you how to move forward.

Hope Service Dogs offers private, one-on-one training for both service dog teams and pet dogs.

Every session is tailored to the individual dog, handler, and training goals.

Private Training Sessions

$150 — 90-Minute Session

Private sessions provide focused, hands-on instruction with an HSD trainer.

Depending on your goals, we can work on:

  • Puppy foundations

  • Basic obedience

  • Leash walking

  • Recall

  • Impulse control

  • Focus and engagement

  • Public-access skills

  • Service dog tasks

  • Distraction training

  • Environmental confidence

  • Household manners

  • Problem behaviors

  • Handler skills

  • Training plans and troubleshooting

You don't have to have a “bad dog” to benefit from private training.

Sometimes you simply need help taking your dog's skills to the next level.

Service Dog Training

Private training can be especially helpful for individuals who are owner-training a service dog or already working with a service dog.

Sessions may focus on:

  • Developing disability-related tasks

  • Improving task reliability

  • Public-access skills

  • Working around distractions

  • Handler technique

  • Generalizing skills to new environments

  • Troubleshooting training challenges

Private training can be used on its own or as part of a larger service-dog training plan.

What to Expect

Private training is hands-on and collaborative.

Your dog will learn, but so will you.

During your session, we'll demonstrate techniques, work with you and your dog, answer your questions, and help you understand how to continue the training between sessions.

Because the ultimate goal isn't for your dog to listen only when the trainer is present.

It's for you to know how to get the same results on your own.

Virtual Training

$100 — 60-Minute Session

Some training questions don't require an in-person session.

Virtual coaching is available for training guidance, troubleshooting, handler coaching, and developing a training plan.

Virtual sessions are conducted by Zoom.
