Our Mission

Changing Lives. Providing Hope for Tomorrow.

At Hope Service Dogs, we believe a service dog can do more than perform tasks.

A well-bred, well-trained service dog can give a person greater independence, confidence, safety, and hope for what comes next.

Hope Service Dogs changes lives and provides hope for tomorrow by breeding, raising, and training exceptional Golden Retriever service dogs that are health and temperament tested.

That mission guides everything we do.

What We Do

Hope Service Dogs is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities through professionally trained service dogs, education, and support.

Our work includes:

Purpose-Bred Service Dogs

We carefully breed and raise Golden Retrievers with the health, temperament, structure, and working qualities needed for service work.

Our breeding program is an important part of our mission because producing exceptional service dogs begins long before training starts.

Professional Training

We train dogs for a variety of disability-related needs and provide professional training for both service dog teams and family dogs.

Our service dog training includes disability-related tasks, public access, environmental confidence, and real-world teamwork.

Started Service Dogs

For individuals who need additional support in the training process, we offer Started Service Dogs and intensive immersion training programs.

Our goal is to provide a strong foundation while teaching handlers how to continue developing their dog's skills.

Education & Advocacy

Service dogs don't work in isolation.

Their success depends on informed handlers, educated communities, and businesses that understand the role and rights of service dog teams.

Hope Service Dogs provides education, information, and community outreach regarding service dogs, public access, training, and the rights and responsibilities of service dog teams.

We believe education can prevent misunderstandings and help create more positive experiences for everyone.

Why Golden Retrievers?

Golden Retrievers are at the heart of Hope Service Dogs.

Their combination of intelligence, trainability, social nature, willingness to work, and versatility makes them exceptional candidates for service work when carefully bred and appropriately selected.

But not every Golden Retriever is a service dog.

The dog comes first.

We evaluate health, temperament, structure, behavior, and working ability throughout the process. Our responsibility is to produce and develop dogs who are genuinely suited for the work—not simply to put a service dog vest on a Golden Retriever.

Our Commitment

We are committed to:

  • Health-tested breeding

  • Thoughtful temperament selection

  • Professional training

  • Real-world service dog preparation

  • Education for handlers

  • Continued support

  • Community education and outreach

  • Honest evaluation of dogs and teams

We will always prioritize the welfare of the dog and the long-term success of the person who depends on them.

The Hope Behind the Name

The name Hope Service Dogs represents what we want every person who comes to us to have:

Hope.

Hope for greater independence.

Hope for a more manageable tomorrow.

Hope that a disability doesn't have to define what is possible.

And hope that the right dog, paired with the right person and supported by the right training, can change a life.

Hope Service Dogs

Changing lives and providing hope for tomorrow.
