Immersion training gives your dog the opportunity to live and train with the Hope Service Dogs team while receiving concentrated, individualized professional training.
Rather than spending the entire program in a training facility, dogs in our immersion programs experience real-world environments, distractions, and situations that help them develop practical skills that transfer to everyday life.
Our goal isn't simply to train a dog while they are with us.
It's to give you a stronger, more reliable dog—and the knowledge to continue the training when they come home.
Choose Your Immersion Program
Started Service Dog Immersion
5 Weeks — $6,500
Our five-week immersion program is designed for dogs who have an existing foundation and are ready for focused, intensive service-dog training.
Training is customized to the individual dog and may include:
Obedience
Public-access skills
Service dog tasks
Focus and engagement
Distraction resistance
Environmental confidence
Real-world field training
Handler/team development
Dogs train in a variety of appropriate environments so they can learn to work around the distractions and situations they may encounter in everyday life.
Premier Service Dog Immersion
3 Months — $12,000
Our three-month Premier Immersion Program provides an extended period of professional training for dogs who are ready for a more comprehensive service-dog training experience.
The longer training period allows additional time to develop, generalize, and reinforce skills across a variety of environments.
Training may include:
Advanced obedience
Public access
Service dog tasks
Environmental socialization
Habituation
Distraction resistance
Real-world field training
Off-leash skills where appropriate
Handler/team development

Real-World Training
We don't believe dogs should spend their entire training program working in a quiet facility.
A working dog needs experience in the real world.
Depending on the dog's program and training goals, field training may include environments such as:
Stores
Restaurants
Shopping centers
Hotels
Medical environments
Crowded public spaces
Theme parks
Outdoor environments
Other appropriate public locations
Dogs learn to remain connected to their handler and responsive to their training while navigating real-world distractions.
The goal is reliability—not just obedience in a controlled environment.
Every Dog Has an Individual Training Plan
No two dogs arrive with exactly the same skills.
Before entering an immersion program, each dog is evaluated to determine whether immersion training is appropriate and to identify the areas that need the most attention.
Training is then adjusted according to the dog's:
Age
Temperament
Previous training
Current skill level
Confidence
Training goals
Individual needs
We don't believe in putting every dog through the exact same program.

Handler Training Is Part of the Program
A dog may learn a tremendous amount while living with our trainers, but the ultimate goal is a successful partnership at home.
That's why the transition back to the handler is an important part of immersion training.
You'll learn how to:

Communicate effectively with your dog
Continue training at home

The return home is not the end of the program.
It's the beginning of the next stage.
Your dog will be returning to a completely different environment, and you'll need time to establish new routines and put the training into practice.
Our 30-day transition period gives you continued access to trainer support while you and your dog adjust to working together again.
We'll help you troubleshoot questions and reinforce the training so you can confidently continue the work at home.
Is Immersion Training Right for Your Dog?
Immersion training isn't the right choice for every dog.
Some dogs can make excellent progress through private sessions. Others benefit from the concentrated structure of an immersion program.
